Food Travel  Recommendations

Travelling and being able to experience different cuisines and attend cookery classes has allowed me to widen by palate.

In this section of my website I give you my top recommendations if you ever plan on visiting any of the countries listed below.

Montenegro

In June 2025 I visited Podgorica, Montenegro.

Protokol restaurant will always have a dear place in my heart because the food was SO good!

I had the pleasure of eating chickpea butter with a variety of different breads and later enjoyed a delicious seafood tomato spaghetti dish. I paid extra for the parmesan cheese.

I recommend setting aside €30 for 1 person, including a drink and service charge.

Cyprus

In June 2024 I visited Paphos and enjoyed a special 3 course birthday meal. I was also given a complimentary glass of Prosecco.

Stunning views, picturesque, a lovely breeze with a beautiful interior, I present to you...Antasia restaurant (part of Antasia Beach Club)!

I ate the tempura prawn sushi, chicken skewers and potatoes and a enjoyed a black forest dessert which were all incredibly filling.

I would recommend setting aside at least €50 per person for this dining experience.

Norway

In April 2024 I took a trip to my first Scandinavian country and visited Oslo, Norway. At the Grand Cafe I enjoyed a 3 course meal which cost around 745 Norwegian Kroner. I ate a waffle and ham cheese starter, a steak main course dinner and a banana pastry tart.

I also visited Oslo's famous food court, Mathallen Oslo, and chose to eat at Vulkanfisk. I ordered a small seafood platter with bread and fish soup. I also bought 1 packet of stockfish. Did you know that stockfish is home to Norway?

For the food alone, I would budget 500 Norwegian Kroner.

Malta

It's June 2023 and I enjoy dinner on day 1 of my holiday in Valetta at Adesso restaurant. It was so good, I visit a second time! I enjoyed complimentary truffle butter, pistachio butter, olives and a variety of different breads. I also tried an orange and burrata salad, beef tacos, lamb shank and rabbit stew. I was given complimentary Maltese liquor in the flavour 'Prickly Pear'.

Did you know that Rabbit is the national meat of Malta? This is the best spot to try it.

One visit will set you back around €35 if you want to order a starter and main.

I also visited Fifty Nine Republic and ordered the prawn tacos, the cold crab tart and a side of chips. I was given a complimentary glass of Prosecco as it was my birthday.

One visit may cost you around €30.

Czech Republic

In January 2023 I visited V Zátiši in Prague. It was a beautiful fine dining experience, perfect for a celebratory meal or if you want to treat yourself. They take your jackets, pour your drinks for you and take note of your special requests too. 10/10 customer service!

I ordered the black roasted potatoes and ham for my starter, the duck main course (cabbage purée, duck croquette a medium rare duck breast and a jus) and creme brûlée for dessert.

Please set aside just over 1,000 Czech Krona for this meal, including service charge.

Belgium

In late November 2022 I visited Brussels, Belgium. You go to Belgium for the waffles and chocolates, right? Of course you do! So if you ever visit, ensure you go to the Bubble Team Room in the city centre to order your fresh waffles and extra toppings. This should cost you around €10-€12.

Next, you want to visit Galerie's Royales Saint-Hubert and enjoy the plethora of chocolate shops they have to offer. I bought some chocolates from The Belgian Chocolate Factory. I would budget €10-€20 to try different ones out.

Lastly, Belgium is popular for their large fries also known as frites. I bought some frites and a white sausage from Belgian Frites.

It cost approximately €15, including a drink.

Greece

In October 2022 I had the pleasure of attending my first ever cookery class ran by 'The Greek Kitchen' in Athens. Despite travelling solo, I was able to meet other people from across the world. The class cost around €55 for 1 person and can be booked on Tripadvisor.

It's typically 1 cooking station per pair.

You get to visit the market before the class starts and cook 3-4 dishes which consist of starters and a dessert.

Did you go to Greece if you did not try gyros? Maybe not. So if you're in the centre of Athens I recommend going to Shish Rotisserie.

€10 should get you a wrap and a drink.
